Atherton Victorian Home

Classic Style Atherton Residence:

An innovative energy strategy involving a 5 kW pv system and a 5kW fuel cell generates electricity and heat right at the home. Efficient features like Energy Star appliances, an advanced lighting strategy, foam insulation and radiant floor heating further reduce overall energy needs from the grid.

Inside, reduced flow toilets, faucets and showerheads curb excess water use. Outside, highly efficient irrigation, draught tolerant plants and reduced traditional turf also contribute to conserving water on the property.

Many features keep the indoor environment pleasant and healthy. Low VOC surface finishes and increased outdoor air ventilation maintain fresh air, while built-in shoe storage at entry limits contaminants from the outdoors.

Care was taken to use wood responsibly. FSC Certified wood from sustainably managed forests was used to frame the home, and for floors, cabinets and window frames.
