We replaced a rotting wood fence around our house with a Bear Board plastic lumber ("forest green" color), and are very very happy with it. It looks good, and after a few years doesn't even look like plastic, just forest green. It should last many times longer than wood, and is totally recycled and totally recyclable -- major bragging rights when we have people over.

The manufacturer warned us very clearly about the fact that the stuff isn't as strong as softwoods, and changes with temperature much more than wood does. (But doesn't swell or shrink at all with moisture). I'm a structural engineer, I figured I could work with that. And I did, and the fence is fine, but in a do-over I would allow more for the growing and shrinking with temperature extremes. On a cold sunny day with the sun shining on one side, it really does some fun bending and flexing, a dancing fence!

Wasn't cheap, but will last many times longer than wood. High recommendation!
